In an effort to hit the ground running, I have developed the first draft of my product which I will be marketing to my niche market. The document is available on the newbnet.com website in the Resource Center. Please use the following Password: niche

I am providing access to this document today ONLY (03/29/2008) to show you how easy it is to quickly and easily evolve a solution once you've identified a market to focus on.

The next step for me is revamping my website. I'm hoping I can complete the first pass of this activity by Monday 12am.

Wish me luck.

I found a niche!

Earlier today I worked through the Quick Action Guide Flow Chart provided by GoogleCash.com. I'm about 1/2 way through the diagram...in the "sit and wait" portion. So far today I established my first AdWord campaign for a package containing 200 Free Products with Master Resale Rights. It's been about 1.5 hours and so far there have been no impressions (presentations on a persons browser) of my advertisement.

I stopped by the store of a good friend of mine who currently managing his music companies online advertising efforts. He brought up the use of urchine (sp?) for tracking site metrics. I told him about my issues earlier today with trying to add Google Analytics to the newBnet.com main page. It was at the tail end of our discussion that I realized a good "niche market". I'm not sure if they always come with a feeling, but I was tingly all over.

This is the moment when I wish for Industry Strength White Papers. Sort of like a Business Requirements document which details current internet trends. I've found two that I'm going to read before the end of today; however, the idea of focusing solely on Google Online training is very tempting. The idea I have is directly linked to Google's product offerings and requires an understanding of all their available small business solutions.

Growth Areas:
website development
search engine optimization
writing skills
SnagIt screencopying -> video presentation

Target Market

It's exciting to have focus.

Google Adword Marketing Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Pitfall #1" Selecting "All Languages" and "All Countries". Get specific with your AdWord campaigns at the very beginning by only selecting Languages and Countries where you will find buyers. If you are trying to market an American Flood Insurance package, target the United States ONLY. Same goes for languages you target. Choosing the right country is detrimental because it helps you hone in on your specific target market.

  • Pitfall #2 Not taking the time to understand Google's Adword Editorial Guidelines. For beginners this is vitally important. Don't feel limited by the rules set out by Google. Instead understand that these guidelines were created to insure the best quality ads are presented.

  • Pitfall #3 Using the product, service or organizations name as the Headline. Even if the user entered to name, stay away from using it as your headline. Your ad should be about what the visitor wants, NOT what you do.

  • Pitfall #4 Sending people to the home page of your site. Search for the page which most closely matches what the visitor is looking for and send them to that page. People hate digging for the information they need. Generally, users know what their need is, it is your job to quickly guide them to the solution. Avoid this pitfall at all costs because even if you do everything else correctly, this will kill your Click Through Rate (CTR)

  • Pitfall #5 Associating to many keywords to your targeted campaign. Instead of associating a list of general and unrelated keywords to a campaign, keep the list short and very focused on the specific product or service you are providing. When selecting keywords for your AdWord advertising, select keywords that are very tightly related to each other. That being said, the ad should be an exact match for the keywords.

  • Pitfall #6 Setting your daily budget to low. When first starting out with AdWord advertising it is imperative to keep a close eye on your AdWord campaigns. If you blow through your budget in the first 15 minutes, you have a problem.

Focus, Drive & Ambition

Today was a very productive day. The majority of the day was spent reading about the GoogleCash system and reviewing the additional materials provided with the training course. The most challenging part of this exercise was staying focused on the task at hand. The GoogleCash book became somewhat repetitive around page 109. From page 110 - 205, I worked very hard to stay focused on learning instead of trying all the neat tricks discussed in the book.

When I finished my reading, I felt ready to start working the GoogleCash system; however, found myself going through all the supplemental information and tutorials instead. The bonus information provided with the book is extensive and covers a wide breadth of related topics.

Feeling overwhelmed by the abundance of information, I scaled back my efforts and focused on my goals for the newBnet.com presense. After reviewing and updating this blog, the newBnet.com website, eBay.com, and setting up a Premium membership at Kudzu.com I am feeling confident regarding my current business development activities and actions. No money has flowed in yet but I'm not concerned at this point. The overriding focus of these activities today were to verify that newBnet.com is consistently presented within all advertising mediums. Articulating the mission and goals for the company helped me realize what markets I'm targeting and what the next steps must be.

The thing that scared me most all day was having to research Affiliate Programs with which to work. It wasn't until very late in the day that we started exploring the advertising options available through ClickBank.com. This actually ended up being the most fun and rewarding as well. I've created a file detailing my top 20 products and services that newBnet.com will promote. Tomorrows goal is to refine the highlevel list and identify two campaigns to run over the weekend. I'm excited and scared at the same time.

Plan for tomorrow
- Read Google TOC for the AdWords program
- Refine the focus of newBNnet.com to target specific customers and users
- Research my target areas I plan to promote
- Create my first 2 campaigns using the Quick Start Guide provided by GoogleCash's Chris Carpenter.
- Continue reading about Adword marketing
- Listen to Perry Marshall's Teleconference materials
