Full Day On the Road

I drove straight thru yesterday and today. Stopped for a few hours over night to grab some food and wait outside the West Yellowstone Park Gate. It was a very relaxing and stressful day all at once.

The roads were slick, but the day was clear. Driving was easy most of the time; however, the roads became slick just outside of Yellowstone Park. In addition, in Idaho, I ran across snow dust storms. I also witnessed my first SuperSize accident.

The snow is getting a bit much. I'm ready to find the warmth and sunshine. I'm hoping Highway 15 will be open again.

And She's off

This marks the beginning of the "Great American Road Trip". Look for many more great posts to flow starting tomorrow.

It's almost 11am, and I'm off to get the great Canadian Source sticker for my car. Then the open road and many books on tape will be my companion.

Cheers,
George

Sense of Accomplishment

It's December 21, 2007 and I have finished configuring this blog to accurately record & document "The Great American Road Trip". I'm currently at my parents house in Calgary sourounded by the boys playing video games on the other PCs in the computer lab. Other than a few breaks today, I've spent most of the day configuring my pictures from the "Tropics 2 Snow" leg of the GART and deciding on the configurations of this blog. It's been a fun day, and I feel right at home sitting in the lab playing on the PC. It's been such a long time since I have flexed my creativity muscles and it felt great doing so today.

Hopefully, this blog will appeal to a large number of my family and friends and provide a easy way to stay in touch. On a daily basis, I will post an update (hopefully with pictures) of that days adventures and interesting news. Who knows, perhaps during all my rambling, I will become a better writer and entertain all my readers. I'll know I've achieved this goal, if I can convince at least one existing friend to join me for a few days during my trip.

I'm excited with anticipation of the upcoming trip because I know I will meet amazing people and see amazing things too!! The next step is to identify where to go and how to get there safely. I definitely want to hit Yellowstone National Park, Red Wood Forest National Park, LA, Hollywood, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, San Diego, Austin and San Antonio. Everyone who visits should expect to see a lot of great pictures from all these places and more.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
